How to Integrate cleanCART for Shopify Stores

cleanCART integration steps

cleanCART integration is as simple as the click of a button:

  • Step #1: Install the cleanCART App 
    • Once Installed the app will automatically:
      • Apply the code snippet to theme.liquid to apply the cleanCART script injection into the main theme and store pages using it
      • Add the code snippet to checkout.liquid to apply the cleanCART script injection into the checkout page. You can test the injection to the liquid files as described below.
  • Step #2: Activate the cleanCART script to turn the protection on.

What should you expect after installing the cleanCART app?

By cleanCART App installation the cleanCART Script is integrated to your store pages automatically, within 2 steps: 

  • Step #1: Add the code snippet to theme.liquid.
  • Step #2: Add the code snippet to checkout.liquid.
  • Before the final step #3:  Activate the cleanCART script.

The set up passes QA in the background and you can see the “cleanCART integration in progress” screen in the cleanCART app:

  • Step #3. After QA passes the cleanCART script is automatically activated and protection is turned on. You will see “cleanCART script activated” in the cleanCART app:

As you are all set, you will receive the email notification from our team and invite to the cleanCART Dashboard to see the stats.

Can I move the cleanCART script out of the header?

In order to provide maximum protection and effectiveness for all of cleanCART's solutions, the script will need to liven within the header. 

What if my checkout.liquid is disabled?

In case the checkout.liquid is disabled the integration to checkout page can not be completed, and the protection and statistics population won’t be active there. Please follow the steps to activate the cleanCART:

  • Step #1: Contact Shopify team to enable the checkout.liquid using the form.
  • Step #2: Add the script by clicking “Add to checkout” in the cleanCART Shopify App:

What if my theme.liquid is disabled?

In case the theme.liquid is disabled the integration to the main theme can not be completed, and the protection and statistics population won’t be active there. Please follow the steps:

  • Step #1: Enable the theme.liquid.
  • Step #2: Add the script by clicking “Add to main theme” in the cleanCART Shopify App.

Can I deactivate the cleanCART protection?

Do you want to pause the cleanCART protection while running a specific company? You can do so by clicking “Deactivate” button in the cleanCART Shopify App:

Note: the statistics population will be paused as well.

You can activate it back any time by clicking the “Activate” button  in the cleanCART Shopify App:

How to fully remove the cleanCART integration?

These steps are recommended in case and before you uninstall the cleanCART application.

  • Step #1: Deactivate the cleanCART script to turn the protection off, by clicking “Deactivate” button.
  • Step #2: Remove the code snippet from theme.liquid, by clicking “Remove from checkout” button.
  • Step #3: Remove the code snippet from theme.liquid, by clicking “Remove from main theme” button.

As a result you should see the cleanCART App screen as follows and can move forward deleting the App:

Test cleanCART integration to liquid files

To test the steps #1 and #2 of cleanCART integration, from your Shopify Admin click Online Store > Themes. From the dropdown click Edit Code.

Search for the theme.liquid file. Click on the file to open it in the editor. Make sure the code snippet like below is there:

Search for the checkout.liquid file. Click on the file to open it in the editor. Make sure the same code snippet is there.

After removing the integration, the code snippet is expected to be removed from the liquid files.
